Common Queries

Some carpets may be prone to shrinkage. However, we have many years’ experience and can spot the types of carpet within a carpet which may cause this.
Myth: wool shrinks; then why do we not see fully grown sheep turn into lambs when it rains?

This only happens if there is too much residue left within the carpet. Rest assured that we use the correct cleaning system and application methods for each carpet, which means; the carpets are between 6 and 7 pH when we leave your property.

This is an old wives’ tale. Wool Australia ( and the Australian/NZ Standards 3733 ( recommend truck-mounted, hot water extraction cleaning as the best way to clean and maintain your wool carpets, which is the method McArdles predominately use.

As with when you’re taking a shower, you get clean; you will only get dirty again if you meet dirt! The answer is no!!
Our cleaning processes and cleaning compounds have been carefully designed and refined to ensure your carpet will not attract soil after we clean it.
Our staff is trained by the Australian Cleaning & Restoration Academy to understand the effects associated with leaving a residual and take every measure to avoid this, thus leaving your carpets looking and feeling fresh and cleaner longer. We also offer a variety of stain-resistant topical treatments to help repel soils and prevent them from attaching to the carpet fibres.

Most of today’s carpeting comes with a guarantee. Familiarise yourself with the warranty specifications, particularly the acceptable cleaning methods and the frequency with which your carpet should be cleaned to keep your warranty active. If your carpets is out of warranty its best to keep carpet protection applied to help repel stains and soiling; with our carpet protection service and one year warranty.
