Mould PPE Classification System

This classification system details the personal protection equipment (PPE) required to minimize exposure to fungal spores and/or fungal gaseous by-products during inspection and remediation works.

  1. No visible mould growth;
  2. No health complaints;
  3. No mould odours;
  4. No cross contamination; and
  5. No known or obvious moisture damage.
  1. Half Face respirator is required with disposable HEPA filters for extended periods;
  2. Where strong obnoxious odours, then an activated carbon or organic vapor filter should be used in addition to a HEPA filter machine.
  3. No protective clothing is required.

  2. Protective clothing should include; disposable overalls and gloves, shoe protectors. All joins at ankles and wrists where gloves and shoes protectors meet the disposable overalls should be sealed with tape.
